VIDEO An overview of MOF chemistry from the UC Berkely YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/bzDIH7olP0c These two videos from chemical manufacturer BASF show the uses and creation of different MOFs in an industrial setting. https://youtu.be/z-ZRhLapO2s https://youtu.be/LCX-sYZ0ImE The Mercedes F125 research vehicle uses MOFs as part of its hydrogen fuel cell storage system. https://youtu.be/ntKA7rbESz8 RESEARCH Making sense of MOFs This activity can be done in small groups. Using online resources, library resources and the websites listed in the Useful Websites section, pick two different MOFs and find out: • their structures • what metals and organic linkers they’re made up of • how they’re made • any uses that they have Once you’ve completed your research, present it to the class as a poster, including a labelled diagram of what the MOF looks like.
