e-Science : Oct 2016 Issue 18
E-SCIENCE AND YOU Getting wild By the time this issue finds its way into the warm embrace of the internet, the last remnants of this year’s National Science Week (which, in reality, goes for about a month) will be already finished and tidied up, with one exception. This year’s citizen science project is called Wildlife Spotter, and allows anyone from around the world to contribute to Australian conservation research by identifying animals in the massive backlog of habitat surveillance images that researchers have compiled from around the country. Wildlife Spotter is going to continue after National Science Week; 1.5 million images have been classified already by citizen scientists but there’s still lots more to go! Try your hand and do your part for protecting Australia’s native species and head along to wildlifespotter.net.au Have feedback or got a question? Click here to contact us.
